Feldenkrais for Conductors

Conductors are ‘dancers’ in a special and tricky situation. Not only must a conductor often perform under extreme pressure, he or she is sandwiched between hundreds of eyes in both front and back those of the audience behind, and those of the instrumentalists or singers in front.

The conductor is both leader and Muse, and as such must achieve the delicate balance between control and artistic inspiration.

Feldenkrais lessons for conductors address this unique situation. How is it possible to ‘flow’ while under pressure? How does posture and stance influence the way the players will interact with the conductor movements.  How can a conductor use their eyes and body to integrate the entire orchestra or ensemble into a ‘dancing’ whole, as if a single instrument.
